In the 1940's a group of people in the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky, with a common love for the purebred dog, got together and formed the Lexington Kennel Club. First incorporated with the State of Kentucky in 1950, the club's objectives remain the same.
- To further the advancement of all breeds of purebred dogs.
- To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of all breeds of purebred dogs and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience trials.
- To conduct sanctioned matches, dog shows, obedience trials and any other event for which the club is eligible under the rules of the American Kennel Club.
The members of the Lexington Kennel Club would like to invite you to the world of canine competition. Whether your interest's lies in breeding and showing in Conformation; with the precision of Obedience; or the less stressful
Rally; you can compete in all of those events right here in the Lexington area.
We boast a diverse membership that owns dogs from all of the AKC recognized groups and enjoy participating in the many activities that surround them. In addition to the ones mentioned above, our members compete in agility, tracking, herding trials, lure coursing, earth dog, and much, much more.
Simply put, we are involved in all things Dog.
